In the Old Testament, the Holy Spirit would “come upon” people in the moments where they needed to be endowed with supernatural strength. He did not always dwell with people, but instead, made “special appearances” to equip people for the work before them.
Even in the earliest stages of the New Testament, the Holy Spirit would appear physically, rest on someone for a specific period of time, and then return to Heaven. After the ascension of Christ, the Holy Spirit began to live inside believers, equipping and empowering us to perform every good work that God calls us to do. Today, ask God for a deeper connection and a stronger fellowship with the Holy Spirit.

Pray This Prayer
Heavenly Father, I know that the Holy Spirit is Your tangible presence in my life, and I am thankful for that. Today, create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me so that I can be in deeper fellowship with the Holy Spirit. If there are any areas of my life that are not completely filled with Your Holy Spirit, fill me up so I can experience all joy and all peace as I trust in You.
I want to overflow with hope, not only for myself, but so others around me can see the evidence of Your Spirit inside me. I need to know more about You, and I know the Holy Spirit teaches and reminds Your people of everything that You have said. Teach me to do Your will and allow me to be led by the Holy Spirit onto level ground. In Christ’s name, Amen.

Heavenly Father, I thank You for the Holy Spirit. Since the dawn of creation, I know that He has been working and fulfilling Your purpose for humanity.
Today, I am awestruck that the same Holy Spirit that empowered the heroes of the faith that I read about in Scripture lives inside me, and that I am a temple of the living God. Thank You for wanting to be in such a close relationship with me that You allow Your presence to live inside me. In Christ’s name, Amen.
