A Prayer for Those Struggling with Mental Health

2 Mins read

Millions of people struggle with their mental health. According to studies, anxiety is the most commonly diagnosed mental health issue, as more than 44 million people in the United States struggle with it. The mental health pandemic that our society is facing cannot be denied.

God has blessed us with professionals in the medical field who devote themselves to studying these issues. While many mental health issues can be treated with medications, therapy, and other forms of professional help, we understand that there is a God in Heaven who is eager to help us with anything that comes against us.

If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health, seeking professional help is a wonderful idea. In addition to that sort of help, you should also pray these verses over yourself or your loved ones.

Pray These Verses
Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV)
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Psalms 40:1-3 (NIV)
I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him.

2 Timothy 1:12 (NIV)
That is why I am suffering as I am. Yet this is no cause for shame, because I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until that day.

Pray This Prayer
Heavenly Father, I know that You see the struggles of Your people. Today, I pray for those who are struggling with anxiety. Your Word declares that we can combat anxiety with prayer and thanksgiving. Today, instead of being anxious, I ask that You fill anxious minds with constant reminders of Your goodness. For those who feel like they are drowning in depression, I ask You to pull them out of the miry, slimy pit so their feet can be set on the solid rock. I know that You are able to keep all that I commit to You. Today, I turn my problems over to You and I ask You to bless my brothers and sisters who are struggling. In Christ’s name, Amen.

Thank God
Heavenly Father, thank You for caring so much for Your children. Thank You for being a God who is capable of healing our issues, whether they are seen or unseen. Thank You for the people You have placed in the medical field who can help with mental health struggles. In Christ’s name, Amen.
