Praying for the Queen as Her Body is Laid to Rest

2 Mins read

The death of Queen Elizabeth II came as a shock to most of the world. Her Majesty had been on the throne since 1952, making her the longest-tenured monarch in the history of the British Royal Family. While billions of people around the globe mourned her death, we did so with the hope that we will see her again one day. The Queen was very vocal about her faith in God dating back to her first Christmas Address in 1952. Today, as her body is laid to rest, spend some time praying for her and her family.

Pray These Verses:
Hebrews 12:1 (NIV)
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders us and the sin that so easily entangles us. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

John 11:25-26 (NIV)
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die, and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”

Psalm 23:4 (NIV)
Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

Pray This Prayer:
Heavenly Father, today I ask that You embrace Queen Elizabeth II as she is laid to rest. I know that death is not a permanent concept for Your people. We have the assurance that we can walk through the valley of the shadow of death without the fear of evil. You are waiting for her just like You will one day wait for me on the other side of eternity. Her legacy of faithful service to her fellow citizens and to You gives me the hope that I will one day be able to meet this wonderful woman. Today, I ask that You welcome her into Your Kingdom. I know that there is a band of saints who have gone before who now cheer us on from the balconies of Heaven. Welcome her into that number until she is reunited with her family one day. Also, comfort her loved ones today as they say their final goodbyes. In Christ’s name, Amen.

Thank God:
Heavenly Father, I thank You for the life of Queen Elizabeth II. At the beginning of her reign, she asked for the prayers of the world so she could serve others and serve You. Today marks the end of that quest to complete service. Thank You for the life she lived, the blessings that she provided, and the example that she set. In Christ’s name, Amen.
