A Prayer of Submission to God’s Will

2 Mins read

God has a beautiful plan for your life. Before you were ever born, before you were ever even conceived, God knew everything about you. He was aware of what your strong suits were going to be, and He was keenly aware of the areas in your life where you may come up short.

All those factors came into play when He was developing His perfect will for your life. Discovering God’s will for your life is one of the most exciting aspects of being a disciple. However, in order to fully understand and embrace His will, you must be willing to submit to it.

Today, ask the Holy Spirit to give you the strength necessary to lay aside your own plans and pursue God’s perfect will for your life.

Pray These Verses

Proverbs 19:21 (NIV)
Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.

Matthew 22:39 (NIV)
Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”

Jeremiah 10:23 (NIV)
Lord, I know that people’s lives are not their own; it is not for them to direct their steps.

Pray This Prayer

Heavenly Father, I know that my life is not my own. When I accepted Your gift of salvation through the sacrifice of Christ, I was crucified with Christ, so it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. I know that I have plans for my life in my heart, but Your purpose is the one that will prevail.

Give me the strength to surrender my own will to your perfect purpose. When Christ prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane, He displayed the kind of strength that I want to have regarding my will for my life. I no longer seek my own will, but I seek Yours in everything I do. I am not in charge of directing my own steps.

Instead, I fully submit to You. When I want to regain control, I need the Holy Spirit to give me the strength necessary to surrender. Help me, O Lord. I know that Your plan is perfect, and that’s the plan that I want to follow.

Thank God:

Heavenly Father, thank You for having a plan for my life. I stand amazed at the fact that You have had a plan for my life since before I was born. I know that Your plan is perfect, and if I follow it, I will find everlasting joy, contentment, and peace.

I know that You don’t need me, but You want me. Thank You for that. I am thankful, amazed, and awestruck that the God of All Creation has taken the time to craft a beautiful plan for my existence.
