Asking God for a Heart Filled with Acceptance

2 Mins read

Of the roughly 8 billion people who currently inhabit planet earth, each of us are different. Isn’t it remarkable to know that God has made some many unique creatures, and yet, He loves us all the same?

One of the most important parts of being a Godly person is to show others the same type of love and acceptance that God extends to all of us. Accepting others doesn’t mean that we condone sinful behavior.

However, it does mean that we don’t allow ourselves to become so over-inflated by our own egos that we view others through a lens of self-superiority. Today, allow the Holy Spirit to help you become more accepting to people and their differences.

Pray These Verses

Romans 15:7-8 (NIV)
Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God. For I tell you that Christ has become a servant of the Jews on behalf of God’s truth, so that the promises made to the patriarchs may be confirmed.

Romans 14:1-4 (NIV)
Accept the one whose faith is weak, without quarreling over disputable matters. One person’s faith allows them to eat anything, but another, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables. The one who eats everything must not treat with contempt the one who does not, and the one who does not eat everything must not judge the one who does, for God has accepted them. Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To their own master, servants stand or fall. And they will stand, for the Lord is able to make them stand.

Romans 15:1-2 (NIV)
We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves. Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up.

Pray This Prayer

Heavenly Father, I know that You are a God of acceptance. I know that I am only able to consider myself a part of Your family because You have been so accepting to me. Help me to exude that type of acceptance to the people that I interact with. I know that each of us are at different places in our Christian journey.

Some of us have been saved for years, some are new converts, and some have yet to acknowledge that they need Your grace. Help me to be accepting of those people. I know that accepting doesn’t equate to approval. Instead of approving of their sinful behaviors, help me to recognize that they need the same type of grace, mercy, and acceptance that brought me into a relationship with You. In Christ’s name, Amen.

Thank God

Heavenly Father, thank You for accepting me. I know that when I was far from You, You saw past my mistakes and realized the potential within me. Thank You for not writing me off, giving up on me, and walking away. Thank You for extending forgiveness. In Christ’s name, Amen.
